Virginia Elizabeth “Dump” Clary Wright, 96, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away at her home Tuesday, February 15, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late Leslie Jerome and Lida Ann Clary. She was also preceded in death by her husband Raymond Edward Wright, her daughter, Patsy Wright Stocks, her siblings, Beatrice Clary, Alease Clary, Leslie Jerome “Junie” Clary, Jr., William E. “Al” Clary, James Clary and Raymond Clary.

Born in Brunswick County, Virginia Elizabeth moved to Roanoke Rapids in 1949 with her husband Raymond after he served his Country in the United States Navy during WWII. She worked with Sears & Roebuck Co. The most important thing in her life was family and friends. She loved life, people and the Lord. A member of Rosemary Baptist Church for over 55 years, she was devoted to her missionary circle. She gave freely of her warm and generous spirit. She was always smiling, told everyone she met she loved them, and wanted to feed them.

She is survived by her granddaughters, Nicole Stocks Drury and her husband Keith of Greenville, and Michele Stocks Barnett and her husband Drew of Los Angeles, California; four great-grandchildren, Keith, Jacob, Ethan and Logan Drury; many loved nieces and nephews, and special friend Troy Keeter.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Dr. Layne Wallace officiating.

Interment will follow in Tabernacle Church cemetery in Brunswick County, Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until service time.

The family is grateful to her caregivers who were her angels sent from God, Kelly Munn, Casi Byrum, Melissa Hale, Dot Mullis, Renee Evans and Linda Harrison.
